NanoWriMo will be happening once again this November. Yes, I know it's May- and possibly a bit early to be thinking about NanoWriMo. But I am. I actually have an idea for this year, one that I would like to see if others are interested in.

Every year I participate. I come up with a story idea. I make a rough outline, do a little research, then dive in once the month begins. Every year I find myself stopping/starting because I start with an idea that's decent, but I stall out often because I go back to rework areas. I never reach completion at the end of November. This year, I am going to try to tackle the competition in a completely new way.

By following Harlequin's guidelines and writing the worst romance novel, ever.

Long ago (and they still may do this) Harlequin actually mailed out a packet which contained their writer's guidelines, and it explained in detail when (in the story) certain key events were to occur. Like the first kiss, or the first sex scene. The current site doesn't have a guideline that specific, however they do go into some detail when you click on the individual romance categories. I have no fondness for the genre- so I think that might help. Hell, it may end up being a parody on the genre because of my detachment, but I don't care. I'm just out to have a bit of fun.

So far i've managed to get [livejournal.com profile] mariness interested in the idea. If anyone else would like to join us in this endeavor (and I know quite a few of you on my list write!) then speak up now! :)The more the merrier!
